Veteran talent manager Shirley Kuan has strongly denied accusations that she treated former client Bea Alonzo as her “cash cow,” saying the claim was deeply insulting and questioning why people would assume she would struggle financially without the actress.

Shirley addressed the controversy for the first time after resigning as Bea’s talent manager on August 11, 2026. She spoke with select members of the entertainment press, including BANDERA, on August 24 at a restaurant in Cubao, Quezon City, where she discussed the circumstances surrounding her decision to part ways with the actress.
Among the issues she addressed was the accusation that Bea had become her primary source of income.
“The problem is dapat nagtanong sila (mga bashers at fans ni Bea) bago nila ako sabihan ng…I find that very insulting, ha. Parang tingin nila sa akin pulubi, di ba?"

Shirley emphasized that she has spent more than three decades in show business and insisted that her career and livelihood do not depend solely on one artist.
“Na parang pag wala na si Bea sa akin, magugutom na ako. At saka tanungin n’yo kahit sino dito sa showbiz. More than 30 years na ako dito."
She also challenged anyone to point to an instance in which she had been accused of mishandling an artist’s earnings.
“Meron ba ako… meron bang magsasabi sa inyo na nagutom ako or nangharbat ako ng pera or I cheated my artist out of their talent fee? Meron bang ganu’n?"
Shirley further maintained that her professional relationship with Bea did not determine her financial standing.
“I just wanna make this clear, ha. Bea did not make me rich nor will she make me poor."
She also urged the public to stop referring to Bea as her “cash cow,” noting that she continues to handle other prominent artists.
“So stop calling her my cash cow. I have bigger stars that I’m handling who are busier than her,” she called out to the netizens.
Beyond the financial accusations, Shirley revealed that she had also felt hurt by what she perceived as a lack of support from Bea during the controversy. According to Shirley, she had previously asked the actress how their situation reached that point.
“’How did it come to this?’ I said, I don’t know. I have no idea bakit ako sinisiraan nonstop. I said, ‘Bea you never defended me. Hindi mo ako pinagtanggol e.’"
Shirley said she had promised Bea that she would not make another announcement regarding her resignation unless further attacks forced her to defend herself.
“But I said, one more, tirahin pa ako isa, you are giving me no choice but to defend myself. Because enough is enough.”
She also pointed to an endorsement event involving Bea as a major factor in her decision to resign. Shirley said she had closed the deal and had been communicating with the client, only to later learn that she was no longer invited to the event.
“The least she could have done was to tell these people to stop. Because she knew the truth. But again, I’m not taking that against her anymore. What triggered me to resign was I was disinvited. I felt offended. In Tagalog, binastos ako at nabastusan ako. Siguro naman at my level, I don’t think I will allow that being done to me,” she said.
Shirley maintained that she was not angry but admitted that being excluded from an event she helped secure was something she found difficult to accept.
