Nadine Lustre and Christophe Bariou spoke candidly about the biggest challenge they faced in their relationship during an interview with Karen Davila.

Christophe revealed that he had been battling a rare form of lymphoma before he met the actress. At the time of their first meeting in Siargao, he had recently completed six months of chemotherapy and was still recovering.
“I had this health challenge before. I was battling cancer. It was a rare form of lymphoma,” he shared.
The French businessman said the first two years of his recovery were difficult. He experienced brain fog and would sometimes forget things.

“When I met Nadine, I was coming back from those six months of chemotherapy,” he explained.
Christophe admitted that he was still uncertain about the direction of his life when their relationship began. His health battle had changed his perspective, while his projects in Siargao were also just starting.
“I didn’t know exactly where I was in my life,” he said.
Despite everything he had experienced, Nadine said she did not immediately see his health condition as a concern. She described him as energetic, adventurous, and full of life.
“I didn’t even think of that at all because I could see that he was full of life,” the actress shared.
She added that Christophe’s recovery did not stop her from getting to know him or entering a relationship with him.
During the interview, the businessman also recalled the fear he felt after receiving his diagnosis. He said he initially believed he would not survive the illness.
“I was 100% sure I was not going to make it,” he admitted.
According to Christophe, the experience taught him to value life more deeply. It later became one of the reasons he developed stronger beliefs about clean living, environmental protection, and compassion for animals.
Nadine said she now believes her partner has fully recovered. She also shared that his doctors had cleared him, which made her proud of him.
“I do believe that he’s fine now. The doctors did say that he’s all clear,” she said.
Beyond the health challenge, the couple explained that their relationship became stronger because they share many of the same values. Both are passionate about protecting nature, helping local communities, and living with purpose.
Christophe described Nadine as his ideal partner because they look toward the same direction in life.
“I don’t think that love is looking each other in the eyes. It’s looking in the same direction,” he said.
He added that their relationship feels natural because they agree on many of the things they want to accomplish.
The couple also acknowledged that they are not always aligned on every future plan. However, they continue to respect each other’s views while focusing on the life and projects they share in Siargao.
