Singing remains his primary source of income. He continues to accept performances and other engagements in Cebu and nearby areas.

Jay R explained that he was capable of handling the actual work required of him as a singer and actor. However, he found it difficult to adjust to the environment surrounding the entertainment industry.

Coming from the province, he initially believed that his responsibilities would mainly involve singing. He later received acting projects and made an effort to study the roles assigned to him.

The former reality-show finalist claimed that he experienced pressure, discrimination, and favoritism during his time in showbiz. He recalled occasions when songs for a Sunday performance were allegedly given to him only on the morning of the show.

This became more challenging because he was also attending tapings from Monday to Saturday. He said the demanding schedule left him with little time to rest and prepare.

Jay R shared that exhaustion eventually affected his health. Despite continuing to work for several years, he reached a point when he could no longer handle the situation.

He left behind clothes, personal belongings, and unfinished projects. Jay R admitted that the decision affected his career and that he spent years blaming himself for what happened.

However, accepting responsibility for his choices eventually helped him move forward. He said he now understands that he must focus on decisions that are better for his well-being.

Jay R also discussed the prizes and earnings he received during his career. He claimed that some were not immediately released to him, while money from several projects was handled by someone he trusted.

Among his prizes was a condominium unit from Pinoy Dream Academy. According to the singer, he received its title only recently and later sold the property for ₱200,000 after encountering issues with the unit.
