Comedian Kakai Bautista has finally addressed the online comparisons between her and Miss Earth Philippines 2025 Joy Barcoma while also explaining her earlier remarks involving social media personality Apple David.

Kakai spoke about the issue during her guest appearance on the latest episode of "Ogie Diaz Inspires," where host Ogie Diaz asked for her reaction to the comparison that became a topic online.
The issue stemmed from Joy Barcoma's post on X on July 4, where she said she would now feel hurt whenever people told her she looked like Kakai. The comment came after Kakai publicly defended Apple David, who became controversial over her relationship with 18-year-old Chad Gammad.
Despite the comparison, Kakai said she chose to take it positively.

“Well, flattered ako kasi matalino, maganda, ‘di ba? ‘Yon ang masasabi ko.”
The actress also took the opportunity to explain why she initially commented about Apple David.
“Sabi ko nga,” pagpapatuloy niya, “‘yong mga bashing-bashing na ‘yan, i-a-address ko lang, ha, about Apple David.”
According to Kakai, her comment was never meant to spark controversy and was simply made in a lighthearted manner.
“Unang-una, when I said that and commented that on this Facebook page, alam mo ‘yong masaya ka lang. [...] ‘Sino na namang inaaway n’yo?’ I said that. With thinking, wala lang ‘yon. It’s not a big issue. After that, nag-video ako and I researched if there is a case na inihain para kay Apple David for anything. Wala namang kaso.”
Apple David drew criticism after sharing photos of herself with Chad Gammad on social media while initially concealing his face. The backlash intensified after she appeared to suggest that there was nothing wrong with their relationship, prompting widespread debate online.
As the criticism continued, Kakai revealed that she is prepared to pursue legal action against individuals who cross the line through online attacks and defamatory statements.
“Nakakalimutan kasi ng mga content creator ngayon na there’s a Cybercrime Act na pwede kayong makulong, pwede kayong masita.”
She also encouraged social media users to verify facts before making accusations or posting hurtful remarks against anyone online, emphasizing the importance of responsible online behavior amid heated public discussions.
Kakai Bautista (born Catherine Herrera Bautista) is a versatile Filipino actress, singer, host, and comedienne who got her start in theater before making her television debut in the 2003 drama Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay.
