Matet fondly and honestly recalled how her mother was both loving and strict, especially toward her. According to her, she understood why she was often disciplined more compared to her siblings.

Despite the strict discipline, Matet emphasized that Nora Aunor treated all her children with equal love. She explained that her mother could be funny at times but was generally stricter with her.

Matet also shared that Nora Aunor made sure to compensate for her absence through special gestures and memorable experiences. She recalled moments when her mother would close amusement parks or arrange private screenings just for the family.

“Pagpapatuloy ng aktres, “When she has time naman, babawi talaga siya. Nagpasara siya ng amusement park, sa Fiesta Carnival. Pinasara niya yan."
“Hindi pa uso ang block screening, pinasara niya sa Virra Mall. Manonood kami ng Terminator 2. Last full show pero kami lang (na pamilya),” she added.

However, Matet also admitted the emotional distance she sometimes felt due to her mother’s busy career.

“Actually, hindi ko type kasi laging wala si mommy. Lagi siyang wala, lagi siyang nasa ibang bansa. Although, meron siyang pinapakausapan to take care of us – another national artist (si Ricky Lee)."
