Miss Philippines Earth 2025, Joy Barcoma shared a story about former Senate President Tito Sotto on her Facebook and recently gained attention online after she shared her reflections about his leadership and discipline inside the Senate.

In her post, Barcoma recalled joining a Senate tour where participants were reportedly told stories about how strict Senator Tito Sotto was when it came to Senate decorum and parliamentary procedures. Her remarks quickly generated reactions from netizens, especially those discussing leadership standards in government institutions.

“I once had a Senate Tour and it was mentioned to us na si Senator Sotto ay isa sa mga pinaka-strikto pagdating sa Senate Decorum & Parliamentary Procedures,” Barcoma wrote.

Barcoma also recalled a past Senate incident connected to the controversial Dengvaxia issue.

“In fact, under his Senate Presidency, Senator Legarda cried because the Senate adjourned for lack of quorum before she can even read her sponsorship speech about the Dengvaxia issue,” she added.

Aside from his strict implementation of Senate procedures, Barcoma also claimed that Senator Tito Sotto was reportedly known for being punctual and rarely absent during sessions.

“Never din daw ito umabsent at laging on-time,” she stated.

Although Barcoma admitted that she did not previously support Senator Tito Sotto because of his background before entering politics, she said hearing stories about his work ethic and discipline somehow changed part of her perspective.

“I might’ve not supported him before because of his background before becoming a Senator but it’s nice to know we have few lesser evils within the halls of the institution,” she further wrote.
