On his social media account, Diaz reposted a lengthy commentary praising Sotto’s handling of a Senate plenary session that reportedly became tense after minority senators walked out of the hall. According to the post, Sotto immediately noticed the lack of quorum and moved to adjourn the session.
The commentary claimed Marcoleta attempted to challenge the issue by questioning how quorum in the Senate is determined. However, Sotto reportedly insisted that the motion to adjourn was no longer debatable because of the absence of quorum.

“Akala ko ba magaling sa rules?” said Sotto.
The statement quickly gained attention online, with many social media users reacting to the exchange.
Diaz added his own thoughts in the caption of the shared post.
“ ‘Akala ko ba magaling sa rules?’ —Sen. Tito Sotto,” wrote Diaz.
He continued by saying:
“Mga abogado, kinabog ng sinasabi nilang ‘comedian lang.’”
Diaz also added another remark criticizing those who allegedly continued insisting despite the Senate rules issue already being clarified.
“Actually, mas nakakatawa yung mga nagpipilit,” he said.
The original commentary strongly defended Sotto’s actions, saying Senate rules clearly supported the motion to adjourn once quorum was lost. It also claimed that other senators present, including Alan Peter Cayetano and Loren Legarda as presiding chair, could no longer proceed with the session.
The post further compared Sotto to “The Comedian” from the graphic novel Watchmen, describing him as someone who “sees the darkness in everyone else and laughs at it.”
The viral exchange has since fueled debate online, with netizens divided over the senators’ actions and Diaz’s outspoken reaction to the incident.
