Veteran actress Rio Locsin has opened up about her decision to steer her children away from the limelight of show business, emphasizing a deeply personal reason rooted in her own past. In a recent interview with "King of Talk" Boy Abunda, the celebrated celebrity mother stressed the non-negotiable importance of obtaining a college degree.

“Kasi ako hindi ako nakatapos ng college; hanggang high school lang ako. Gusto ko yung mga anak ko pag meron silang natapos, magiging proud sila sa na accomplish nila–– achievement nila. Malaking bagay yun na may pinagaralan ka,” she explained.

Having spent decades in the industry, Locsin observed that the allure of financial independence often becomes a distraction for young celebrities. She noted that once individuals start earning their own money, the motivation to return to the classroom often fades away.

“Pag nag artista sila, mag-eenjoy sila kasi kumikita na sila, hindi na mag aaral. Kahit pa sabihin, babalik ako, hindi niyo na babalikan yan [kasi] masarap kumita ng pera. Masarap gumastos ng sarili mong pera,” she maintained.

Despite her children’s initial interest in acting, Locsin remained firm in her conviction.

“Diniscourage ko. Gusto nila,” she said.

Reiterating that her main priority was for them to study well and graduate.

Beyond the discussion on education, the veteran star shared the secrets to her enduring career. She pointed out that professional longevity requires more than just talent; it demands a good attitude and reliability on set.

“Kailangan mahal mo yung trabaho mo, kailangan marunong ka makisama, at tsaka kailangan talaga yung madali ka katrabaho kasi importante yun na hindi mo sila binibigyan ng problema. Sa hirap ng buhay, pag mahirap ka pa kausap, baka next time na lang,” she said.
