In a video message posted on her official Facebook page, the veteran actress-turned-politician expressed heartfelt gratitude to her loyal supporters, whom she fondly calls “Vilmates.” The message came after fans voiced concern for her and her husband, Executive Secretary Ralph Recto, following accusations raised by a fellow politician.
“Hello there, my Vilmates! Of course, lahat kayo lahat na binabati ko kayo and gusto ko lamang magpasalamat sa inyo na sa inyong pagdarasal, nagwo-worry kayo sa akin,” she said.
While acknowledging that she is currently facing challenges, Santos emphasized that she remains confident in her intentions and service. She reassured the public that both she and her husband continue to prioritize serving the people of Batangas sincerely.

“Don’t worry, I’m facing some challenges… But you don’t have to worry, as long as I know deep in my heart–– we know deep in our heart kasama si ES–– that we are serving our people from the heart, nothing to worry,” she assured.
Santos also reflected on her long experience in politics, noting that criticism and controversy are not new to her. Despite this, she expressed appreciation for the prayers and encouragement she continues to receive.
“You really cannot please everybody –– damned if you do, damned if you don't. Sanay na kami diyan, but again, thank you for all your prayers. Lagi rin kaming nag dadasal for guidance at inspirasyon namin kayong lahat,” she shared.
In closing, Santos encouraged unity and resilience among her supporters. She urged them not to be swayed by negativity and instead focus on uplifting one another during difficult times.
“We will stand by one family na nag susuporta at nag mamahalan at naniniwala sa isa’t-isa. Let’s just continue to inspire each other. Sa panahon ngayon, may mga negatibo, may mga pagsubok, wag tayong papadala,” she concluded.
Vilma Santos Recto is a multi-award-winning Filipina actress and politician who earned the title "Star for All Seasons" during her legendary career in Philippine cinema. Beyond her film achievements, she served with distinction in public office as the Governor of Batangas and as a Representative of the province's 6th district.
In another report, Vilma Santos-Recto strongly condemned a controversial remark made by Bong Suntay about Anne Curtis, emphasizing that women deserve respect. Speaking during a screening of her film Ekstra, the Batangas governor highlighted that women today are no longer expected to remain silent or simply follow men. She also criticized the tendency to judge women based on their clothing, stressing that it should never justify disrespect or inappropriate behavior.
Meanwhile, Vilma Santos-Recto also shared that returning to filmmaking is not currently her priority as she focuses on her responsibilities as governor of Batangas. She explained that her main goal is to address the needs and concerns of her constituents, according to reports. Despite this, the veteran actress said she remains open to working on another independent film in the future if a compelling script comes her way. During the same event, she reiterated her stance on respecting women.
