The interview coincided with the promotion of her upcoming primetime series The Master Cutter, where she stars alongside Dingdong Dantes. As the conversation unfolded, Locsin revisited a significant chapter in her career—her involvement in bold or sexy films during her younger years.
She admitted that taking on such roles was not something she initially embraced.
“Labag sa kalooban ko. Hindi ko alam kung ano ginagawa ko, ano ginagawa ko dito? Bakit ako nakaganito? Bakit ganun?” she shared.

Despite her hesitation, Locsin explained that her decisions were heavily influenced by her upbringing and the guidance of her mother. She also pointed out how young actors often follow instructions without question.
“Sabi ng nanay ko, siyempre, susundin ko nanay ko,” she said.
Looking back, she realized that those experiences contributed to her personal growth and education. She now encourages younger artists to be more mindful when choosing projects, especially those that may not align with their values.
When asked if she felt hurt being labeled a “bold star,” Locsin responded honestly.
“Sa akin, hindi,” she said.
She then highlighted the caliber of filmmakers she collaborated with.
“Kahit na daring, kahit ganun na sexy kami, ang gagaling ng mga director namin.”
She credited renowned directors such as Lino Brocka and Ishmael Bernal for shaping her craft, emphasizing that even in daring films, strong acting was still expected. According to her, professionalism on set was non-negotiable.
Beyond revisiting her past, Locsin also expressed excitement about her current projects. She shared how much she enjoys working with a new generation of actors in The Master Cutter, including Shuvee Etrata and Charlie Fleming.
