In 2016, Sace was injured in a shooting incident where his friend was killed. Both were reportedly on the police's drug watch list due to alleged involvement in illegal substance.

The sad video was posted on Facebook by the daughter of the alleged victim, Cristel Regina Pascual Eugenio. It shows Cristel sobbing in deep sadness as she watches her father inside the coffin. In the video, she was even heard saying, "Papa ko... Papa ko, tumayo ka diyan."
In relation to this trending story, John Wayne Sace, a former child star, was arrested by Pasig Police for allegedly shooting his former friend. According to the authorities, they gathered an important lead as to where Sace was hiding when he made a Facebook post. He posted a photo of him with a noticeable background, it showed a wall of a certain hotel in the same city. Later on, police undercover went to the hotel, where they were able to nab Sace.
