Actor Ricardo Cepeda was finally released after almost a year in detention at the Cagayan Provincial Jail in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan Valley.

As per an article by PEP.ph, Cepeda was released after posting bail. It also said that the resolution was signed by Executive Judge Gemma Bucayu-Madrid.

"Having posted cash bond duly approved by this Court, the Warden of the Cagayan Provincial Jail, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, where the accused is ordered to RELEASE the accused on provisional liberty unless held for some other lawful cause," part of the resolution read.

It can be recalled that Cepeda was arrested on charges of syndicated estafa. Operatives of the Quezon City Police District apprehended the actor in a restobar in Caloocan City in October of 2023, according to Philstar.com's report.

In a report by Inquirer.net, model-athlete Joshua de Sequera, son the Cepeda’s wife Marina Benipayo, later defended his stepfather. He claimed that the actor was “wrongfully accused” and that Cepeda was a mere product endorser of a company that offered an investment scheme without his knowledge.

Ricardo Cepeda, whose real name is Richard Cesar Cepeda Go, is a Pinoy veteran actor who made a name for himself in Philippine TV and cinema. He is 57 years old, having been born on October 11, 1964 in Manila, Philippines. He is known for movies like “Una Kang Naging Akin” which was released in 2008, the 2009 movie Kaya Kong Abutin Ang Langit and the TV series, Ang Probinsyano. He is the ex-husband of actress Snooky Serna.

In a previous report by KAMI, the twin brother of Ricardo Cepeda was asking for help for his brother who is currently detained. Robert Go set up a GoFundMe page for the actor to make his earnest appeal explaining Ricardo's predicament. He said that there would be 23 scheduled hearings between February and June 2024, with each court appearance costing at least $500. In addition to this, the twin of the actor also lamented the legal process in the country, calling it sluggish.

Ricardo Cepeda also gave an interview on GMA News’ 24 Oras about his arrest due to allegations of syndicated estafa. According to Cepeda, he was shocked about the arrest. He explained that he was only a model for the company and was not part of its business dealings. The actor also lamented about the situation’s effect on his life and career.
