Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera were seen visiting the wake of Regal Entertainment founder Mother Lily Monteverde.

It can be recalled that Mother Lily, a Philippine cinema icon and a pillar of the Pinoy showbiz industry passed away in the morning of August 4.

Her husband of 60 years, Remy Monteverde, passed away on July 29, barely a week before Mother Lily also died.

Showbiz power couple Dingdong and Marian were among the celebrities who paid their last respects to the Philippine cinema icon.

In a video shared by GMA News, the power couple were seen talking to some family members of the Monteverde clan before going to the casket that bore the body of the Regal matriarch.

Both Dingdong and Marian have appeared in several movies produced by Regal Entertainment.

In the video, Marian was seen seemingly wiping her eyes as she looked at the casket bearing Mother Lily’s body.

The late Lily Yu Chu-Monteverde, affectionately called by showbiz people as “Mother Lily,” is the founder of Regal Entertainment, Incorporated, a film and television production company based in New Manila in Quezon City. A Chinese-Filipino, Mother Lily was born on August 19, 1938, and was among the first Filipina movie producers who churned out dozens of blockbuster films during the 70s, 80s, 90s, and even up to present. She was instrumental in launching the careers of big names in the showbiz industry like Alma Moreno, Maricel Soriano, Dina Bonnevie, Lorna Tolentino, and Snooky Serna. Mother Lily also helped in propelling the careers of Richard Gomez and Aga Muhlach to greater heights during the early 1990s.

The news about Mother Lily Monteverde's death was confirmed by her son, Goldwin Monteverde, to ABS-CBN through a text message. Mother Lily was the force behind the Regal Entertainment. She was also the one responsible for the success of many showbiz personalities today, who in the past were called as the Regal babies.

Another celebrity who mourned the passing of Mother Lily is Pauleen Luna-Sotto. After hearing the news about Mother Lily's death, Pauleen expressed her condolences via an online post on Instagram. In her post, Pauleen said her thanks to Mother Lily over the Regal films she was once part of.
