Felson Palad, husband of Donita Rose, took to Instagram to defend his younger sister, singer Sheena Palad, who faced bashing from some netizens after replacing veteran actress Eva Darren as a presenter at the 72nd Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) Awards.
In his heartfelt post, Felson shared his deep affection for Sheena, whom he calls "Nene," and explained his significant role in her upbringing, having delayed his own marriage to support his sisters' education. He expressed his pain over the accusations and mistreatment Sheena had endured but chose to focus on her well-being and resilience.
Felson emphasized Sheena's strength, rooted in her faith, and described her as a warrior guided by God's word. He also urged those criticizing Sheena to consider the impact of their actions and show empathy and understanding. Despite the challenges, Felson highlighted Sheena's ability to maintain her self-worth through her faith and not be defined by social media or hurtful labels.
Felson wrote: “Sheena holds a special place in my heart. I affectionately refer to Sheena as my Nene. I have played a significant role in her upbringing, as I don't have children of my own. I made the decision to marry later in life in order to ensure that my sisters were able to complete their studies.

“As with any parent, it pains me deeply to witness the accusations and mistreatment she has endured. However, I choose not to dwell on that and instead focus on my sister's well-being. “What I am certain of is this: despite the hurt caused by the words and actions directed at her, my sister is resilient. She finds strength in her faith, knowing that her Heavenly Father watches over her and that she has been raised as a warrior guided by the word of God...
“I have seen the messages she receives. My family and I share a close bond, and it pains me to see her go through this. We hope that no one else has to experience this. However, my sister is resilient, and we are grateful for her strength. While we are not seeking apologies from the organization, we believe that everyone deserves to have good mental health. Although life presents challenges such as bullies and their victims, it's important that no one remains a victim. We take comfort in our faith and believe that the truth will always prevail.
“To those who are taking pleasure in my sister's difficult situation, I urge you to consider the impact of your actions. We hope that you can find it in your hearts to show empathy and understanding.
“To my dear sister Sheena, you know that I stand by you through thick and thin. Dodot loves you so much. I am trying to remain composed, although I am deeply upset. We find strength in our faith and in the support of those who care for us.
“In the midst of these challenges, my sister is able to minister because her sense of self-worth is not tied to social media, her career, her talents, her family, or her friends. She finds her identity in Christ. She is a cherished child of God, and not defined by the hurtful labels others may use.”
