Joey De Leon took to Instagram and shared the story that went behind the creation of the name of the longest-running noontime show in the world, "Eat Bulaga."

According to the comedian, it was in 1979 while he was having coffee in the kitchen of Tito's house in White Plains, when something came up in his mind.

He also mentioned that he was in the company of a certain Jess Espiritu.

"Something came up sa aking utak in 1979 while having coffee sa kusina ni Tito sa White Plains. I was in the company of a certain Jess Espiritu. Hmmm, JESUS and HOLY SPIRIT? Salamat po."

In the photo, one could see the name "Eat Bulaga - Ang Unang Tatlong Dekada," from what seemed to look like a book cover.

Beneath it was a quote by the comedian.

"And what do you do in a canteen? Of course, EAT! And that became my appetizer to help me through until I came up with a delicious title Eat Bulaga!"

"Eat Bulaga" is the longest-running noontime variety program on Philippine television. The show premiered on July 30, 1979. Its pioneer hosts include showbiz icons Vic Sotto, Joey de Leon, and Tito Sotto. "Eat Bulaga" went back live on air with its new lineup of hosts.
