Pokwang has revealed in the comments section of her recent post that she intends to change the surname of her daughter Malia from O’Brian to Subong.

Earlier, a netizen remarked about the looks of Malia and suggested the comedienne should have her daughter carry her mother’s surname.

Pokwang immediately replied and said she’s already making moves to do just that.

Tagging the netizen’s user name, the comedienne said: “Inaasikaso ko na po .”

It can be recalled that Pokwang and her long-time partner and Malia’s father, Lee O’Brian, parted ways last year for some unknown reason.

At first, the two appear to have a working co-parenting agreement and then during the beginning of this year, Pokwang made some hugot posts that seem to be directed at Lee and his apparent non-support of Malia.

Pokwang is among the most well-loved comediennes in the industry. Her frank and motherly ways are always "patok" among Filipinos. She used to be with ABS-CBN but moved to GMA during the pandemic. She has two daughters, Mae and Malia. Her split with Lee O'Brian has caused a buzz on social media.

Recently, Pokwang posted a cute video of her child, Malia, acting out just like an actress. A netizen then commented that Malia takes after her "ex-husband" but the "pagkapilya" is after Pokwang. The comedienne was then quick to refute the comment of the netizen and told her that Lee O'Brian is not her husband. She added that he is afraid of responsibilities and expressed pity towards whoever he would be marrying.

The comedienne has also penned a couple of frank tweets addressed to a tabloid. This was after the publication tweeted about the comedienne’s social media accounts. The tweet claimed that Pokwang lost some followers due to her posts against Lee O’Brian. Mamang Pokwang then debunked the claim and stressed that she actually gained more followers on IG.
