When it came to the high-note part of the song, John was able to nail it effortlessly.
Even his co-stars Rowell Santiago and Lorna Tolentino were cheering for the two, particularly John whose singing prowess is known only to a few.
“I really, really like you,” Rowell and Lorna were heard saying on the video after John and Tirso performed the song.
Ang Probinsyano is the longest running action-series on Philippine television to date.
Romeo Gonzales Arcilla, better known in the Philippine entertainment world as John Arcilla, is a Pinoy actor and an environmental advocate. He was born on June 24, 1966 do Dominador Gil Alemania Arcilla and Eustacia Gonzales in Quezon City. John is a descendant, from his mother’s side, of former President Manuel L. Quezon. While he has appeared in dozens of movies, TV series, and Theater plays, he is best known and remembered for playing the role of Antonio Luna in the historical drama film Heneral Luna. He is also known for portraying the role of Hagorn in the fantasy-series Encantadia. John also portrayed the role of Renato Hipolito in the action-drama series, Ang Probinsyano.
Last year, John has won the Volpi Cup for Best Actor at the 78th Venice Film Festival. The Filipino star got the award for his lead role in the political-thriller film “On the Job: The Missing 8.” He was able to beat Hollywood stars Oscar Isaac and Benedict Cumberbatch in the best actor race. John expressed his regret in his virtual acceptance speech of not being able to physically attend the ceremony in Italy.
After a few weeks of waiting, John finally physically received the famed Volpi Cup that he was supposed to receive when he won as Best Actor in the 78th Venice International Film Festival. Despite being fully vaccinated and getting a go signal from the production team of “Ang Probinsyano,” John didn’t go to the international event because he said his doctor advised against it. As a result, he has to wait for several weeks to receive the famed Volpi Cup and give it the traditional kiss. The actor was also pleasantly surprised upon seeing that an expensive Cartier watch for men came along with the cup.
