She emphasized that her primary concern was the welfare of the children affected by the public discussion, explaining that she was speaking from the perspective of a mother rather than someone taking sides in a personal conflict.

Gelli’s clarification came after her remarks on GTV’s Chika Cart attracted strong reactions from social media users. The discussion centered on an interview Patrick gave to Ogie Diaz concerning Jennylyn and their son, Jazz.

The controversy generated considerable online attention, with people expressing different opinions about the parents’ statements and the way the matter had become a public issue. Gelli’s comments were interpreted by some netizens as defending Patrick, leading to a wave of negative reactions directed at the actress.

However, Gelli maintained that her intention was not to defend one person at the expense of another. Instead, she wanted to emphasize that adults should consider how public disputes might affect the children connected to them.

“Wala po akong kinakampihan or kinampihan at that time. And even at this point in time, feeling ko wala namang masama na maging concern tayo sa magiging effect nito sa mga bata.”

Her statement reiterated that concern for the children should not automatically be interpreted as taking a particular side. Gelli said she believed it was reasonable for people, especially parents, to consider the emotional consequences that public controversies can have on young family members.

The actress also explained that she had no intention of hurting anyone through her comments. While acknowledging the intense reactions she received, she stood by the sincerity of her intentions and reiterated that her focus had always been the children’s welfare.

“’Yun ang pinaka goal ko lang. I do not have ill will towards anybody. I know I meant well. ’Yun lang ang focus ko.“

Her remarks reflected the emotional toll of being criticized online over an issue in which she said she was not directly involved. Amid the criticisms, Gelli decided to clarify what she meant and explain why she had spoken about the controversy in the first place.

Weeks before her emotional discussion on Wala Pa Kaming Title, Gelli shared her perspective on the matter during an appearance on GTV’s Chika Cart.

At the time, she expressed concern that the situation had grown beyond what was necessary, particularly because a child was at the center of the discussion.

“Hindi kailangang maging ganito kalaki kasi the reason why this was brought up was because nasasaktan yung anak ni Patrick. Sa kagustuhan namang makatulong ng ama, parang lalong pang nagkaroon naman ng problema.”

Gelli also reminded the adults involved that the children should remain the priority. She suggested that parents and other adults should be mindful of the example they set, especially when personal matters become public controversies.

“Sana wag nating kalimutan na may mga batang pinag uusap at ‘yun naman sila talaga ang pinaka importante dahil yung mga magulang, mga nakakatanda, nakapagmove on na sila sa mga buhay nila. So sana let’s show the young ones what is right, what should be done, and not show them all this bad stuff.”
