In a Threads post on Tuesday, October 8, Ogie addressed those who strongly reacted to Gary’s decision to give the president a platform. Rather than joining the criticism, he suggested that viewers who did not appreciate the interview could simply choose not to watch it.
“Pag di nyo type yung interview, wag nyo panoorin. Andami-daming mapapanood, bubuwisitin nyo lang ang sarili nyo. #Choosehappiness,” Ogie emphasized.
Ogie also pushed back against what he considered excessive judgment toward the singer. He questioned why Gary would be expected to apologize simply because some viewers were dissatisfied with the interview.

“OA yung mga humusga masyado kay Gary V. Ano feeling nyo, magso-sorry sa inyo si Gary V kasi di niya kayo na-please?” he added.
The comments came after Gary received criticism for interviewing President Marcos. A number of netizens who expressed their disapproval were also supporters of Vice President Leni Robredo, commonly known as Kakampinks.
Gary’s interview subsequently became a subject of political discussion, with reactions extending beyond those who criticized him. Some supporters from the opposite side of the political divide also weighed in and used the controversy to revisit previous criticisms directed at the Marcos family.
Among the claims raised by some of them was the accusation that former critics of the Marcoses had eventually become what they described as “kain-suka.”
The backlash therefore placed Gary at the center of a broader political conversation despite the interview itself involving a public figure from the entertainment industry and the country’s president.
Ogie’s response focused on the reaction to the interview rather than the political arguments surrounding it. His message encouraged people to exercise personal choice when consuming content, while also challenging what he viewed as an excessive demand for the singer to satisfy everyone watching.
The controversy highlights how interviews involving prominent public figures can quickly become political flashpoints, particularly when the personalities involved have established public associations or histories that audiences connect with different sides of the political spectrum.

Previously, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. granted an absolute pardon to Mary Jane Veloso, bringing a major development to her long-running legal case. The decision follows her return to the Philippines in December 2024, after she spent years detained following her conviction in Indonesia. Veloso had been spared from execution in 2015 after a last-minute reprieve, and the presidential pardon now clears the remaining legal consequences of her case.
Meanwhile, President Marcos Jr. also congratulated Alex Eala following her breakthrough victory at the 2026 Mubadala DC Open. Eala defeated Jessica Pegula in the championship match, 4-6, 6-4, 6-0, becoming the first Filipino player to win a WTA 500 singles title. Marcos praised the historic achievement and highlighted Eala’s impact on young Filipino athletes and the country’s tennis community.
