Bea’s comments came amid the heavy bashing received by actor Patrick Garcia following his controversial remarks about his former girlfriend, actress Jennylyn Mercado, and their son, Jazz, during an interview with Ogie Diaz.

While Bea did not specifically name Patrick in the statement provided, her remarks touched on the broader issue of how people react to controversies and personal matters online.

She began by acknowledging that social media has given people a platform where they can freely express their thoughts and opinions.

“Mas nagiging entitled na kasi ang lahat with their own opinion. You have your freedom to talk (on) social media. Everyone has the right to speak up, to express,” Bea said.

For the actress, having the freedom to speak does not necessarily mean that every opinion is based on complete information. She pointed out that people can become overly confident about their interpretation of an incident even when they have only seen a portion of what actually happened.

Bea explained that this can become particularly problematic when online discussions go beyond expressing an opinion and begin turning into excessive judgment.

“I feel like minsan, nao-overboard kasi talaga, na kahit sa tingin mo ‘yun na ‘yung totoo, ‘yun na ‘yung totoong nangyari pero hindi mo naman alam, marami kang bagay na hindi alam na nangyayari outside of social media, outside of the camera,” she continued.

Bea appeared to encourage people to remember that there can be circumstances, conversations, and experiences taking place away from public view.

The timing of her remarks is notable because of the intense online reaction surrounding Patrick Garcia. The actor has faced criticism following his comments about Jennylyn Mercado and their son, Jazz, during his conversation with Ogie Diaz.

The controversy has prompted strong reactions from social media users, with discussions extending beyond Patrick’s statements and into the personal history of the people involved.
