The actress and singer opened up about the experience during an appearance on the GMA program Your Honor, where she reflected on the many uncertainties she faced throughout her years in architecture.
According to Quintos, her decade-long journey was far from straightforward. She described repeatedly questioning her decision to pursue the course and wondering whether she should continue.
“Yung journey noong sampung taon, it was a back and forth, ’Ah gusto ko ba ‘to? Hindi na. Bakit ko ba ito ginagawa?’ Ganun ’yung pinagdaanan ng utak ko,” she shared.

According to Mikee, she experienced internal struggle while trying to complete a demanding academic program while also building her career in the entertainment industry.
Quintos eventually identified one particular incident as a pivotal moment in her journey: the time when she became the subject of criticism connected to a school group project.
“Yung pivotal moment nung na-hate ako, dun sa ‘thesis’ hate ko,” she recalled.
The issue gained attention beyond the university after a groupmate reportedly described Quintos as a burden during group work. What followed was a public misunderstanding regarding the nature of the academic project.
Quintos clarified that the work being discussed was not actually her thesis.
“Sabi nung groupmate ko sa school, pabigat daw ako sa group work. Tapos, pumutok kasi akala ng public it was a thesis. It was a landscaping class, hindi siya thesis. Individual ang thesis namin,” she explained.
The distinction was important to Quintos because the public had apparently interpreted the controversy as involving her thesis, when she said the project was actually part of a landscaping class.
She also recalled how the incident eventually became part of online content created by Sassa Gurl.
“Ginawa pang content ni Sassa Gurl ’yun e. Kaya nag-ano pa sa Saving Cherry and everything. Kinonfront ko siya dun. Diniretso ko sa isa sa mga inuman after taping,” Quintos said.
As the story circulated online and became part of entertainment-related conversations, Quintos found herself dealing with another layer of attention surrounding an already difficult period in her academic life. She eventually confronted Sassa Gurl directly after one of their tapings. Her academic setback became significantly more difficult as it was amplified by social media and public assumptions.
For Quintos, the 10-year journey was not simply about completing the requirements for a degree. It involved repeatedly examining her own motivations and questioning whether she was still pursuing the right path.
Despite those doubts and the controversy that became attached to part of her student experience, Quintos ultimately completed the program. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Architecture degree from the University of Santo Tomas in 2025.
