Barbie Forteza gave a frank response when asked if there came a point in her life when she became a little arrogant.

In her interview on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” on Friday, August 28, host Boy Abunda asked Barbie if she ever felt that she had become boastful as her career progressed.

Boy directly asked Barbie, “Dumating ba sa point ng buhay mo na kahit kaunti yumabang ka?”

Barbie explained that she does not consider her attitude as arrogance, pointing out that she worked hard to reach where she is now.

“Well, I wouldn’t say pagmamayabang ’yun. Kasi base ho sa sinabi ko sa inyo kanina, tinrabaho ko kung nasaan na ako ngayon. So, if it seems like pagmamayabang, I really don’t care. Kasi I worked hard to be where I am right now.”

Boy then acknowledged the effort Barbie put into building her career, including the challenges she faced along the way, while noting that not everyone respects her journey.

Barbie agreed with Boy’s observation and admitted that she has encountered people who do not necessarily recognize or respect the work she has put into her career.

The Asia’s King of Talk then followed up by asking if she still comes across people who hold that kind of view about her.

“May mga nakakasalubong kang gano’n, di ba?” the veteran talk show host inquired.

Barbie acknowledged that she does, but said she has learned not to let the opinions of people who were not part of her journey affect her. She also admitted that she used to care more about what others thought of her.

“Opo naman, opo naman. But again, I mean, if you weren’t there, you weren’t there. And I guess ’yun ’yung mistake ko before, that I used to care about those opinions. Now, ngayon, mas parang maybe ’yung yabang is more of having this level of confidence sa sarili ko.”

She then described the confidence she now has in her work and emphasized that she is willing to stand behind the things she does and puts out publicly.

“Whatever I do, whatever I put out there, I can back it up.”

Barbie further explained that, based on her experiences working with directors and other respected figures in the entertainment industry, she has not received complaints about her professionalism.

“At saka hindi naman po sa pag-ano, pero kung hindi naman po ako nagkakamali, from the directors, all the very respectable people here in this industry na nakatrabaho ko or nakilala ko, parang wala naman po silang reklamo sa akin. So, I guess it’s all just coming from outside the industry, and if hindi naman po siya makakatulong sa akin, it’s their opinion, yes, pero I have my own life.”
