During a broadcast on Weverse, Mikha highlighted possible risks to the nation's natural resources, agricultural sector, water supply, and overall cost of living. She prompted her audience to consider the long-term trade-offs of entering the global AI sector.
“If ever that happens, let’s say we do rise in terms of the AI industry and everything, is it worth losing the minerals that make the Philippines the Philippines?”
As part of the US-led Pax Silica initiative, which the Philippines joined in April 2026, the country is set to develop a 4,000-acre industrial hub in the Luzon Economic Corridor. The development is expected to boost supply chains tied to semiconductors, AI, and critical minerals, with officials projecting billions in investments and more than 130,000 jobs.

However, the pop star questioned whether these projected economic gains would genuinely improve the lives of Filipinos. She pointed out that rising living costs could offset the benefits brought by new employment opportunities.
“The cost of living will increase, so what’s the difference? We’ll provide jobs, but the cost of living is high, so how does that help with poverty?”
Mikha also raised concerns about the project's resource requirements, particularly the amount of land and clean water that data centers may need. While government agencies have maintained that the development will not compromise the water supply of nearby communities and will be subject to environmental safeguards, water use remains one of the concerns surrounding the initiative.
She also redirected attention to the importance of supporting Filipino farmers, emphasizing their role in sustaining the country and its people.
“Support the farmers, guys. Jusko! We would not survive without them.”
The P-pop artist also encouraged young Filipinos to stay engaged with issues that could affect the country's future and use their platforms to raise awareness.
“So please, let’s use our voices to talk about what matters and what’s happening.”
