Maegan admitted that although she told others she had stayed clean, that was not actually the case.
The singer also shared that she reached one of the darkest moments of her life, revealing that she experienced suicidal thoughts. She recalled posting a video of her attempt on social media. However, she believed she was saved after encountering four locked doors, which she described as a sign.
Determined to recover, Maegan entered a second rehabilitation program, where she stayed for two years before being released in April 2026.
Maegan described her second rehabilitation program as much more demanding, saying it required discipline and commitment
She said the program was exactly what she needed because it allowed her to rebuild her life.
The singer said she credits her second rehab program for helping her recover, embrace a new beginning, and reunite with her family after over a decade.
One of the most painful moments during her recovery came when her father, OPM legend Freddie Aguilar, passed away. Because of the rules of the rehabilitation center, she was not allowed to attend his Janazah, the Islamic funeral rites.
She recalled how painful the experience was, adding that she could only pay her respects at her father's grave one week after his burial.
The singer admitted she felt guilty for not being with her family during one of their most difficult times. Still, she expressed gratitude for the love and support they continued to give her throughout her recovery.
Today, Maegan said she has no desire to return to her former lifestyle and is focused on living a healthier life.
Freddie Aguilar was an iconic Filipino folk singer, composer, and patriotic figure in the Philippine music industry. He was best known for his hit song "Anak," which was translated into more than 20 languages and sold over 33 million copies worldwide. His rendition of "Bayan Ko" also became a symbol of protest during the People Power Revolution.
Before Freddie Aguilar's passing, Maegan Aguilar, daughter of the OPM icon, had the opportunity to reunite with both of her parents during a joyful family moment. In her social media post, she shared a photo of them together, which delighted many netizens. The heartwarming reunion served as a reminder of the importance of family reconciliation, especially during difficult personal times.
