Alongside the images, Marvin opened his message by simply stating his age, setting a reflective tone for the story that followed.

He then took fans back to the very beginning, long before the success, restaurants, and recognition. Marvin recalled working various jobs just to make ends meet, experiences that helped mold his character and work ethic.

“Before the restaurants and the kitchens, I was a waiter at Tia Maria’s. A mascot at Shakey’s. I worked wherever I could, learned on the job, and stayed close to food and people.”
Marvin went on to share how his life took an unexpected turn when acting entered the picture. With his first significant earnings, he made a decision that would eventually shape his path as an entrepreneur.
“Life took a turn, acting happened. When I earned my first real money, I didn’t buy stuff—I bought a shot.”
That “shot,” as Marvin explained, was his first business venture, which marked the beginning of his journey in the food industry.
“Mr. Donut was my first move. Promotion for a franchise. Fair trade.”
The actor-restaurateur did not shy away from discussing the struggles that came with building a business. He acknowledged the years filled with setbacks, constant learning, and starting over, before finally reaching a breakthrough moment.
“Years of trying, failing, baking, cooking, starting again. Until one day, we cooked cochinillo in the garage.”
What started as a humble setup soon evolved into something bigger, symbolizing how persistence and passion eventually paid off.
“That garage turned into a kitchen. That kitchen turned into a restaurant. The rest followed.”
As he reflected on reaching 47, Marvin expressed gratitude and a continued hunger for growth, both personally and professionally.
“47 today. Still grateful. Still learning. Still hungry.”
He ended his post by thanking the people who supported him throughout his journey, acknowledging that his success was not achieved alone.
“Thanks to everyone who’s been part of the ride.”
Marvin’s birthday post resonated with many, serving as an inspiring reminder of how perseverance, humility, and hard work can turn humble beginnings into lasting success.
