In an exclusive interview with GMA News, Florentino Gregorio, the widower of the victim Sonya Gregorio, described police officer Jonel Nuezca as an arrogant neighbor. According to him, even when they were only new in the neighborhood, Nuezca wanted to intimidate the people around him already.

How Gregorio described Nuezca was supported by their barangay captain, Rosita Ovejera. According to her, the Neuzcas and Gregorios were constantly summoned by the barangay due to unending conflicts.

Every time Nuezca would be home for the weekend, there would be sure chaos.

The barangay captain also disclosed that the conflict between the two families was not only about the “right of way” issue. She said it all started when the Nuezcas bought a lot owned by the Gregorios. This story was also supported by the widower.

According to their statements, Nuezca thought that the Gregorios scammed them, believing that the piece of land was lent to someone else. The accusation was denied by the Gregorio patriarch. Also, the victims were not able to provide them the land title anymore since Nuezca took back their initial payment.

Ovejera said that it was the Nuezcas who did not want to reconcile with the other family.

The problem was brought to the court where, according to Gregorio, the case was settled. The Nuezcas lost the case since it was proven that the victims did not scam them.

Tasha delos Santos, the daughter and sister of the victims, revealed that prior to the shooting incident, Nuezca confronted and threatened them several times.

Gusto niyo ipakita ko ‘yung pagka-demonyo ko?’” she said.
