Red Velvet’s Bae Joo-hyun, popularly known as Irene, recently issued an apology after a magazine editor-stylist exposed about the K-pop star’s rage.
Earlier, Kang Kook-hwa posted a now-deleted Instagram post about an unnamed female idol. Netizens have been speculating it to be Irene after the stylist used the hashtags #psycho, title of a Red Velvet song, and #monster, the name of the album of Irene and Seulgi as a sub unit of the group.
“Today, I found myself in the position of an “eul” (person in a subordinate position to “gap”) and got thoroughly stepped on by someone. Even before I met her, other people told me that I needed to be mentally prepared to meet her.
Today, I was at the brunt of her electric needles and lost my words. I stood still as if my hands, feet, and brain were tied up. I became a fool as I could not do anything in front of someone that was looking at me with such distaste while shuddering. I was hit endlessly by the knives she threw out with her tongue, and so I cried. I couldn’t be bothered with caring about who I was in front of. I just couldn’t contain my tears. #psycho #monster” (Translation from Koreaboo)

Irene then took to social media to apologize for her poor behavior:
“This is Irene.
I am sincerely sorry for hurting the stylist with my foolish attitude and careless words and actions.
Getting to this spot involved help from many people who worked together with me, but my immature actions caused great hurt and I regret that and am reflecting.
I’ve been looking back on the past because of this, and I’ve felt very embarrassed because of my lacking words and actions and I once again feel how precious the staff are.
I will be more cautious about my actions in the future so that this does not happen again.
I am sincerely sorry to the fans who support me and to everyone who has been caused concern because of this.” (Translation from Soompi)
Her entertainment agency, SM entertainment, likewise issued a statement regarding Irene’s “careless" attitude.
"This is SM Entertainment. We would like to comment on the stylist's post online about Irene.
Irene sincerely apologized for the deep hurt she caused to the stylist because of her carelessness and emotional behavior when she met with her this afternoon, and she's sorry for causing concern to many people with her immature behavior.
We also feel responsible for this, and we'll not forget the hard work of all the people and staff who collaborate with us and our artists, and we'll try to prevent this from happening again to everyone who works with us.
Once again, we apologize for causing concern." (Translation from AllKpop)
