Mala-Boracay! Manila Bay trends online as DENR puts white sand along Baywalk

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) bared its plan to place white sand along the Baywalk area in Manila Bay.

KAMI learned that putting the white sand is part of the rehabilitation program for Manila Bay.

In a report by Jun Veneracion on 24 Oras, about 500 meters of the Baywalk area will be filled with white sand on top of the existing gray sand.

“Gagawing white sand itong dito sa may Baywalk area para makita ng tao na kapag puti ang kulay ng isang bagay, kailangan pangalagaan mo ito at huwag mong dumihan,” Environment Undersecretary Benny Antiporda explained.

According to the Facebook post of ABS-CBN News, the DENR is planning to make Manila Bay look like Boracay. The white sand that will be used in the Baywalk area was from Cebu.

However, the government is still working on improving the water quality of Manila Bay.

President Rodrigo Duterte pushed for the rehabilitation program of Manila Bay that has been greatly affected by the pollution.

The President even warned to close the establishments that have been contributing to the pollution in Manila Bay. He directed them to have water treatment facilities or they will be forced to shut down.

After the “Save Manila Bay” project, many netizens praised the breathtaking result. Many children enjoyed swimming in Manila Bay.
