Joey Bautista, the lead singer of the ‘90s band “Mulatto,” has passed away on Thursday, March 19.
KAMI learned that according to his wife Belinda Bagatsing, the said celebrity succumbed to novel coronavirus disease or COVID-19.
She mentioned that the result of the test conducted on the ‘90s singer was only released a day after he died.
Because of her confession, Joey becomes the first Filipino celebrity who passed away because of the said virus.
Belinda revealed that she will undergo a 21-day quarantine because she might also have acquired the virus from her late husband.
“As you know my husband Joey Bautista passed away yesterday due to pneumonia. He passed away not knowing the result of his covid19 swab test,” she wrote.
“Today I was informed that his official test result came out, positive covid19. If any of you were around us the last 30 days, please monitor yourselves and get yourself checked if you don't feel well,” she added.
As of this writing, the Department of Health (DOH) has tallied a total of 19 deaths in the Philippines.
The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Albay is also tracing the people who got in contact with the members of “Mulatto” band that performed in the said province.
