In a report by the ABS-CBN News, the installation of CCTV cameras with facial recognition is part of the city’s campaign to prevent crimes.

The surveillance cameras can easily detect those who are wanted or people that the authorities have been looking for.

According to a report by Vice, the local government had a test run. Two people with fake criminal records passed by the camera in Tayuman LRT Station. They were identified as "Suspect 1" and "Suspect 2" while those without criminal records were tagged as "unknown."

As reported by GMA News Online (authored by Julia Mari Ornedo), the cameras can also recognize conduction stickers and plate numbers of vehicles even in dim areas.
