A hotpot resto in Sichuan, China was raided by authorities after it was discovered that they were using recycled chili oil called as "saliva oil."
According to the South China Morning Post, the oil comes from leftovers of previous customers.
This is then mixed with new oil and served to the next customers.
A diner gave the tip to government agencies, prompting the Nanchong Market Regulation Administration to conduct the raid.

They also found four pots of ready-made soups, which allegedly contained beef tallow, which did not look like coming from legit companies.
According to the owner, Chen, the practice started since September and that it actually allegedly improved the flavor of the soup.
