Actor Jake Cuenca opened up about his decision to completely give up alcohol, revealing that he has not consumed any alcoholic drink for the past six years.

During his guest appearance on the talk show Fast Talk with Boy Abunda on May 27, the Kapamilya star candidly shared how his relationship with alcohol eventually pushed him to reevaluate his lifestyle and priorities.

“I don’t drink alcohol anymore. I’ve given it up,” Jake told Boy Abunda.

Although he clarified that he was never addicted to alcohol, the actor admitted there was a period in his life when drinking became something he relied on heavily after long days.

“It’s almost like I was relying on it too much na at the end of the day, ‘yun na ‘yung gagamitin mong tool pang pagpag,” he explained.

Jake also reflected on his younger years when nightlife, parties, and social gatherings occupied a huge portion of his life and was more important than career.

“It’s almost like it was even more important than work at times for me, parang socializing, friends,” he shared.

The actor then recalled the incident that ultimately changed his perspective. Jake admitted that the controversy involving a police chase while he was driving became the turning point that forced him to confront the direction his life was taking.

“It was a rock bottom for me,” he admitted.

The incident reportedly had a strong emotional impact on him, especially because a bystander was also affected during the commotion after police officers fired warning shots.

Jake said the experience made him deeply uncomfortable with where he found himself at that stage in his life.

“I was relieved with that but at the same time, parang I already felt uncomfortable kasi ilang taon na ‘ko and I’m finding myself in a situation like this,” he recalled.

Despite the controversy, Jake expressed gratitude to ABS-CBN for continuing to support him and not abandoning his career during one of the lowest points of his life.

The actor’s honest revelations earned attention online, with many viewers praising him for openly discussing personal growth, accountability, and the difficult lessons he learned from his past experiences.
