Jake Cuenca candidly opened up about one of his memorable experiences during his early years in showbiz, including being rejected by actress Yasmien Kurdi in the past.

The actor made the revelation during his guest appearance on the Kapuso program “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” where he reminisced about his beginnings in the entertainment industry and his first television project with GMA Network.

According to Jake, it had already been two decades since he last became part of the Kapuso network. He also shared that the youth-oriented show “Click” served as his very first TV show.

While recalling his early experiences in acting, the celebrity admitted that he struggled a lot during his first taping experience because of nervousness.

“Ang pinaka-naaalala ko sa Click, ‘yung first sequence ko ever. Tito Boy, ang ganda ng intro n’yo sa’kin, but ‘yung first take ko rito, take 50, take 45, as in I could not do it. Hindi ko magawa, ‘yung kaba ko talaga, it was something else at the time,” Jake shared.

The actor also expressed gratitude to GMA Network for helping him stay humble despite his long career in showbiz.

“Lagi kong binabalikan. It always keeps me grounded and humble. At saka, it’s my 25th year in showbiz, but I can really say na kahit kailan sa career ko, hindi lumaki ‘yung ulo ko because of how I started in GMA. It really trained me to be humble and to believe in myself. So I’m grateful to GMA for that,” he said.

During the interview, Boy Abunda asked Jake if he already had several girlfriends during his Kapuso days. The actor responded that there were women he tried to court before, but some rejected him.

Jake then mentioned Yasmien Kurdi as one of the actresses who turned him down.

“I can say one and I’ll never forget it, si Yasmien Kurdi. I remember that,” he revealed.

The interview also touched on Jake’s current love life, where he confirmed that he and actress-beauty queen Rabiya Mateo are already in a relationship.

Meanwhile, Yasmien is now happily married to pilot Rey Soldevilla. The couple tied the knot in 2012 and already have two children named Ayesha Zara and Raya Layla.
