Senator Robin Padilla took to Facebook to share an update on former Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, who remains confined in the hospital following an urgent medical procedure.

In his post, Padilla expressed relief over the successful operation and shared a heartfelt moment when Medialdea regained consciousness. According to Padilla, the first words Medialdea uttered upon opening his eyes were, “Jas si Rody anong balita? Si Inday nagkita na ba sila ni Rody?”—referring to former President Rodrigo Duterte and his daughter, Vice President Sara Duterte.

Padilla reflected on the deep bond between Medialdea and Duterte, describing their friendship as stronger than a marriage vow. “Iba rin ang pagkakaibigan ng 2 ito. Daig pa ang till death do us part ng mag-asawa,” he wrote.

The senator also thanked God for the successful operation, writing “Alhamdulillah sa naging tagumpay ng operation ni Sir Bingbong. Allahu Akbar. In Shaa Allah ito na po ang umpisa ng magagandang magaganap.”

Padilla ended his post urging Medialdea to rest and recover, as advised by doctors, and shared a relevant verse from the Quran:

“Allahumma la sahla illa maa ja’altahu sahlan, wa Anta taj’alu l-hazna idha shi’ta sahla.”

(“O Allah! There is no ease except that which You make easy, and indeed You, when You want, make difficulties easy.”)

Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte was the 16th President of the Republic of the Philippines. He left Malacañang on June 30, 2022. The newly inaugurated President of the Philippines is Bongbong Marcos who got 31 million votes in the May 2022 elections. The new Vice President of the Philippines is VP Sara Duterte, the daughter of the former president.

Earlier, the former president was apprised of his rights under the Miranda Doctrine. In a video shared by GMA News, CIDG chief, Police Major General Nicolas Torre III, is seen reciting the Miranda Doctrine to the former president. The reading of the Miranda rights is a standard procedure for persons being arrested to ensure that the latter fully understands their rights upon their arrest. It can be recalled that the International Police (InterPol) has confirmed the issuance of the arrest warrant by the International Criminal Court against the former president.

An earlier video showing former President Rodrigo Duterte’s longtime partner, Honeylet Avanceña, seemingly trying to prevent the former leader from being taken into custody has gone viral. The video, which was posted on the social media page of their daughter, Veronica or Kitty Duterte and shared by ABS-CBN news on its own page, has since then gone viral. The said video also captured snippets of conversations between Avanceña and the former leader.
