The break-in came to light on Saturday morning, October 17, when staff arrived and found belongings scattered inside the shop. They also discovered damage to the ceiling and roof at the back of the establishment.

A review of the security footage showed that a man had entered the shop at around 8 p.m. the previous Friday. He was wearing a cap and had his face covered when he appeared through the ceiling.

Upon noticing the security camera, the intruder took a ladder and redirected the device, apparently to keep his movements from being recorded.

An interviewee in the report described a vacant former office as the suspected route used to reach the laundry shop.

“Dumaan dun sa dating opisina. Ngayon, bakanti na yon,” the interviewee said.

The same person pointed to damage to the roofing as part of the suspected entry route.

“Tinungkab nila yung bubong, yung yero. Doon sila dumaan,” the interviewee added.

After discovering the incident, the owner went to the barangay to report what happened. Barangay officials then coordinated with the police to help locate the person involved.

The report said patrolling officers spotted the suspect on Fernandez Street on Sunday afternoon. He was arrested after officers allegedly found suspected illegal drúgs in his possession.

Police subsequently linked him to the laundry shop incident through the tattoo visible in the footage. The report attributed that identification to authorities, who compared the tattoo of the detained man with that of the recorded intruder.

At the time of the report, the suspect was being held at Police Station 1. He was set to face a complaint for an alleged violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drúgs Act of 2002.

The shop owner, however, reportedly would no longer file a separate complaint over the break-in. The report did not explain the reason for that decision or specify the amount of cash and total value of the belongings taken.

The man declined to give a statement when approached for comment.
