According to James Agustin’s report on GMA’s Unang Balita, officers responded after receiving a complaint about a suspected intruder. The homeowner was also present when authorities found the man inside the property.
The suspect was immediately restrained and arrested. Police said they recovered two cellphones allegedly stolen from the house inside his bag. They also found an improvised firearm loaded with ammunition.
The report identified the homeowner as a fire volunteer who was returning home when he noticed something wrong with the property’s padlock.

According to police, the lock had been damaged. The homeowner then looked inside and saw movement, prompting him to contact barangay officials for assistance.
“Pagdating niya po don sa bahay niya mismo, na-discover niya na yung padlock ay sira. Nung sinilip niya, nakita niya na merong gumagalaw sa loob ng bahay,” a police officer explained in the report.
The officer said the homeowner sought help after realizing that something unusual was happening inside. Barangay officials then called the police, who responded to the property.
“And then nung nakita niya po na merong kakaibang nangyayari, tumawag siya sa barangay para humingi ng tulong. And then yung barangay po, tumawag agad ng pulis,” the officer added.
Police said their initial investigation indicated that the suspect allegedly operated in Cubao, Anonas, and Project 4. Authorities also claimed that he had previously been arrested in connection with theft, illegal drúgs, and gambling.
These details were presented as police findings in the report. The previous arrests mentioned by authorities do not establish whether those cases resulted in convictions.
“Base po sa natatanggap naming mga report sa barangay, siya po ay talagang ang modus niya ay pagnanakaw talaga,” an officer said.
Investigators also requested a ballistic examination of the recovered improvised firearm. Police said the examination was intended to help determine whether the weapon had been used in another crime.
“Ni-request po natin for ballistic examination para po ma-identify kung nagamit sa ibang krimen yung nakuha sa kanyang improvised na baril,” the officer explained.
The report did not provide the examination results or establish any connection between the firearm and another incident.
The man was detained at the Cubao Police Station. When asked about his arrest, he declined to explain his side.
“No comment po ako diyan. No comment po ako,” he said.
According to Unang Balita, the suspect faces complaints for robbery and an alleged violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act. The report did not mention a court ruling on those complaints.
