Reaching the python was not easy because it was concealed above the classroom. The rescuers had to open part of the ceiling to gain enough access to the space where the animal was hiding.

Footage from the operation showed the team working carefully around the ceiling. After locating the python, they were able to pull it out and secure it.

The removal ended the unexpected disturbance in the classroom. It also allowed the school personnel to make sure that the snake was no longer hiding in the area where classes were being held.

The team leader of Rescue 613 also raised one possible explanation for where the snake came from. The rescuer said it may have originated from a cemetery in the area that had recently been cleared.

After the animal was secured, arrangements were made for it to be turned over to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. The planned turnover would place the python under the agency’s care.
