In a Facebook post on Tuesday, August 18, Xian reflected on how previous generations were raised with the understanding that firearms were not appropriate for children. He questioned why some parents today allow their children to participate in shooting activities at a young age.
Xian wrote, “Bakit walang namamaril na estudyante noong panahon namin? Kasi hindi kami marunong humawak ng baril. Our parents and grandparents always tell us na hindi ito pambata. Ang problema sa mga kapwa ko millennials eh sinasama nila sa firing range yung mga anak nila. Kabata-bata pa eh very professional ng humawak ng rifle.”
He then argued that limiting minors’ access to firearms and properly securing guns could help prevent shootings in schools.

Xian continued, “Kung hindi natin tuturuan ang mga menor de edad kung paano humawak ng baril at kung ila-lock natin mabuti lahat ng firearms sa loob ng vault, walang magiging mass shooting incident sa loob ng paaralan.”
Xian also called for legislation that would hold adults accountable when they teach minors how to use firearms or own the weapons involved.
He said, “The congress should start legislating a law na mananagot sa batas at makukulong for up to 20 years yung adult na nagturo sa bata at yung adult na may-ari ng baril.”
In the comments section of his post, Xian further questioned the reason for teaching a high school student how to handle a rifle, particularly when the activity is presented as recreation.
He wrote, “Bakit niyo tuturuang humawak ng rifle yung isang high school student?? For what?? For libangan?? For fun?? Personal entertainment?? Mygahd! Grabe. Mga hindi kayo nag-iisip!!”
