Police investigations revealed that the victim managed to enter the restricted sports facility before excitedly climbing the movable basketball structure.
While hanging directly onto the ring, the heavy equipment completely lost its balance and violently tipped over.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Fercel Deloria, the chief of the local station, explained exactly how the tragic accident happened.
"Pumasok sila sa mismong lugar at umakyat sila sa basketball stand. Parang silang tatlo, inalog nila ang mismong ring ng court. Eventually, iyong isa ay nag-hang sa mismong ring. Kumapit siya roon gamit ang kaniyang mga kamay, at doon bumagsak ang basketball stand," Fercel detailed in his official statement.
On the other hand, local officials quickly clarified that the area was strictly off-limits to the public. Chairman Rodolfo Banal explained that the covered court was still undergoing active construction and was heavily secured with temporary metal sheets.
"Ang totoo po nito, ito po ay nakabakod pa po ng yero. Binuksan po nila 'yung yero kaya pumasok sila, nilaro 'yung court, 'yung moveable court. Hindi pa talaga po tapos 'yung court kasi 'yung daanan pa pinapagawa ko pa. One week pa bago buksan," Rodolfo firmly stated, noting the facility was just a week away from its highly anticipated opening.
Meanwhile, the grieving family is absolutely devastated and completely convinced that poor equipment setup played a massive role in the fatal crash.
The victim's aunt, Aslimah Panggaga, shared that her nephew had just finished attending church when he decided to join others playing in the area.
“After niya magsimba, dumaan siya doon sa basketball na iyon. Tapos may mga tao talaga doon, may mga naglalaro doon, kaya pumasok din siya para maglaro. Naglambitin siya,” Aslimah emotionally recalled.

“Kung maayos lang ang pagkakagawa ng basketball ring na iyon, hindi matutumba. Wala kasing pampabigat sa baba ng basketball ring. Nananawagan po kami na mabigyan po ng hustisya 'yung pamangkin ko sa nangyari," she added.
