Following widespread public outrage over the viral incident where a pedestrian was left behind after being struck by a pickup truck in the rain, authorities immediately stepped in to deliver justice.

As reported by GMA’s Balitambayan, the LTO didn't just stop at suspending the individual's driver's license; they also slapped a strict alarm on the vehicle to completely freeze its registration and prevent it from ever hitting the streets during the ongoing probe.

The transportation bureau is now demanding direct answers for this unbelievable lack of accountability.

They officially served a Show Cause Order (SCO) to both the registered owner and the designated driver of the pickup truck.

“Dahil dito, pinahaharap ng LTO ang rehistradong may-ari at itinalagang driver sa pagdinig ng Intelligence and Investigation Division (IID) sa Agosto 10, 2026, at inaatasang magsumite ng beripikado o sinumpaang paliwanag, kalakip ang mga dokumentong magpapatunay sa kanilang mga pahayag, kung bakit hindi sila dapat managot sa mga posibleng paglabag sa Republic Act No. 4136, kabilang ang Reckless Driving, Failure to Perform the Duty of a Driver in Case of Accident, at Improper Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle,” the agency firmly stated in their official release.

LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao passionately reminded the public about absolute road ethics.

“Ang bawat motorista ay may pananagutang unahin ang kaligtasan ng kapwa at kumilos nang naaayon sa batas, lalo na kapag may nangyaring aksidente. Hindi maaaring balewalain ang tungkuling ito. Titiyakin ng LTO na ang sinumang mapatutunayang lumabag ay mananagot sa ilalim ng batas,” Markus boldly declared.

In other news, a 51-year-old former law enforcer was fatally gunned down while traveling home in Quezon, Nueva Ecija.
