Dalawang lalaki, arestado dahil sa umano’y pagbabanta at pagpapanggap na pulis

Two men were arrested in Quezon City after allegedly pretending to be police officers and threatening two female call center agents whom they met at a bar.

According to Gabriel Gonzales’ report on GTV News Balitanghali, the authorities arrested the suspects on Friday. The incident reportedly happened at a bar within the area.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Wilfredo Fabros, station commander of Holy Spirit Station 14, said the suspects allegedly threatened the women with a firearm. The victims became afraid and decided to seek police assistance.
“Siguro dahil nga du'n sa kalasingan, hindi na rin nila alam 'yung ginagawa nila. Nakasahan nila ng baril, natakot 'yung mga babae,” Fabros said.
“‘Yon 'yung nag-ugat kaya nagsumbong sa pulis. Nagkataon lang na 'yung pulis nagpapatrolya talaga du'n sa area na ‘yun,” he added.
The report said police officers happened to be conducting patrol operations near the establishment when the women approached them.
One of the suspects allegedly tried to hide when the authorities arrived. His companion, meanwhile, reportedly attempted to conceal a firearm inside their vehicle.
However, the police officers saw the weapon. They then questioned the two men about their alleged claim that they were members of the police force.
Fabros said neither suspect was able to present identification or other documents proving that they were police officers.
“Wala naman silang maipakita din na katibayan na pulis sila,” the station commander said.
Authorities also checked the firearms found in the suspects’ possession. Based on their verification, the weapons were reportedly registered under the names of other individuals.
“At the same time, upon checking, 'yung mga baril nila is nakapangalan sa ibang tao. And then silang dalawa mismo is hindi sila authorized magdala ng baril,” Fabros explained.
Police recovered two unlicensed firearms and several magazines during the operation. Both suspects were taken into custody following their arrest.
The men are expected to face complaints for usurpation of authority, grave threat, and illegal possession of firearms.
Both declined to discuss the allegations against them when members of the media asked for their statements.
“No comment po. Sa korte na lang po kami magpapaliwanag,” one suspect said.
“Ganoon din po, no comment,” the other man answered.

The victim had reportedly dropped off his passenger in Kaunlar Village, Barangay 20, Caloocan, at around 1:30 a.m. Moments later, the passenger allegedly attacked the rider by repeatedly stabbing him in the side with an ice pick.
