A man was injured after falling down a flight of stairs while allegedly being chased by another man carrying a pair of scissors inside a shopping mall in Divisoria, Manila on Saturday.

According to a report by GMA News on Unang Balita, the victim suffered injuries after the fall. His companion also fell down the stairs but fortunately escaped without injuries.

Initial police investigation showed that the confrontation allegedly started because of an exchange of hostile looks. The disagreement reportedly began near the mall's food court before escalating into a chase.

A witness said the suspect was allegedly carrying a pair of scissors as the two groups ran through the mall.

"May hawak umanong gunting ang suspect. Pagkahabulan na, napunta sila doon sa may hagdan. Yung dalawang lalaki po nahulog sa hagdan."

The witness also described feeling scared during the incident.

"Ang nasa isip ko baka po may pumasok na nanggugulo tsaka baka kung sino-sino na lang po yung saksakin. Napatakbo po ako doon sa loob... Nagtago ako doon."

The injured victim was first taken to a hospital for treatment. After receiving initial medical attention, both victims and the suspect were brought to the police station for further investigation.

Police said vendors inside the mall initially tried to stop the fight. However, the two sides reportedly encountered each other again shortly afterward.

Investigators said one group allegedly approached the other and sarcastically apologized, which reportedly reignited the confrontation.

Authorities also shared that one of the individuals claimed he was approached by two men, prompting him to grab a pair of scissors and wave it to keep them from getting close.

Both parties have since expressed their intention to file grave threat complaints against each other. They declined to give statements to the media as the investigation continues. Meanwhile, GMA News reported that it is also seeking the shopping mall's side regarding the incident.

In other news, a tragic altercation in Bocaue resulted in the death of a 45-year-old woman after she was reportedly attacked by her younger half-brother. Law enforcement officials indicated that the conflict was triggered by a disagreement regarding a request for fare money. Investigators uncovered forensic evidence and bloodstains within the residence that the suspect occupied with the deceased. Local police are currently conducting a deeper inquiry to determine the specific reasons behind this violent act.
