Four people died after a delivery truck plowed into a house where a wake was being held in Pagbilao, Quezon, according to a report by Unang Balita.

The tragic incident happened along the Maharlika Highway. CCTV footage showed the truck traveling on the right side of the road before it gradually crossed to the opposite lane. Moments later, it crashed into the house where family members and visitors had gathered for the wake.
Aside from the four fatalities, nine people were injured in the crash. The victims were immediately brought to a hospital for medical treatment.
Several tricycles parked outside the house were also heavily damaged because of the strong impact of the collision.

Based on the initial police investigation, the truck driver allegedly became drowsy and fell asleep while driving. According to authorities, the driver told investigators that when he woke up, the truck had already crashed into the house where the wake was taking place.
Police are continuing their investigation to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident and to establish all possible liabilities related to the crash.
Authorities also confirmed that the management of the company that owns the delivery truck has started coordinating with the families of the victims following the tragedy. No additional details about possible assistance or compensation have been disclosed as of this writing.
The report, which aired on Unang Balita, also showed the extent of the damage caused by the collision. The house sustained significant destruction, while the parked tricycles outside were left wrecked after being hit by the speeding truck.
