Former senator and boxing legend Manny Pacquiao has launched a relief campaign to help families affected by the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck Southern Mindanao on June 8.

The disaster caused extensive damage in several cities and provinces, including General Santos City and Sarangani, areas closely associated with the boxing icon. In response, Pacquiao extended his condolences to those who suffered losses and called for unity as communities begin rebuilding.

"My heart is heavy as I receive news of the destruction and distress caused by the earthquake in our home. To the families who have lost loved ones and to everyone who has been displaced or suffered damage to their homes and livelihoods, please know that you are in my thoughts and in my prayers,” he wrote in a statement.

Through the Manny Pacquiao Foundation, the former senator encouraged supporters and donors to take part in ongoing relief and rehabilitation efforts.

The organization is accepting assistance through multiple channels, including card payments, Apple Pay, PayPal, cryptocurrency, GoFundMe, and checks. In-kind donations are also being coordinated through the foundation.

Pacquiao later thanked those who had already contributed to the campaign and assured affected residents that they were not facing the crisis alone.

“Thank you so much for your prayers and generosity. Many of you have reached out asking how you can help, so here are a few ways we can come together. To my kababayan affected by the earthquake, you are not alone. We are one family, and we will rise back stronger than ever. Mahal na mahal ko kayo. God bless the Philippines,” he said.

Even before Pacquiao's return, relief efforts had already begun. Photos and videos shared by his wife, Jinkee Pacquiao, showed members of the Manny Pacquiao Foundation in General Santos City preparing and packing donated goods for distribution.
