The Kapuso journalist posted several photos taken during labor and delivery, candidly narrating the intense moments she and her husband Matthew Valeña experienced inside the hospital.

According to Mav, what initially started as a routine hospital check-up quickly turned into an emergency admission after her water bag unexpectedly broke during an internal examination.

“I was sitting on the hospital bed just for a check-up. I felt something leaking. My water bag had broken during an internal exam. I was giving birth anytime now,” she wrote.

The journalist recalled how both she and her husband were shocked by the sudden turn of events, especially since they were first-time parents.

“I called Matt to get us admitted. He was also so confused and shocked but he did the best a first time dad could do,” she shared.

Mav explained that the early stages of labor surprisingly went smoothly despite her mild contractions. Doctors reportedly even joked about her unusually high pain tolerance.

“Labor was so easy. Fully effaced and dilated even if I was getting only mild contractions,” she recalled.

However, complications arose when baby Maya struggled to move down properly during delivery.

The news anchor said the medical team tried multiple positions in hopes of helping the baby descend naturally.

“We tried different positions. In the tub. Squatting. Sitting a stool. Lying sideways on the bed. She still wasn’t moving,” she recounted.

Things became more serious after doctors discovered that the baby’s head was already causing her bladder to bleed.

“And then the doctor said my bladder is already bleeding because the baby’s head was bumping into it,” Mav revealed.

To help relax her muscles, doctors administered an epidural, which Mav described as one of the worst parts of the experience.

“WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE NOT BEING ABLE TO FEEL OR MOVE MY LEGS,” she admitted.

Eventually, baby Maya was delivered with the assistance of a vacuum procedure. Doctors later explained that the baby’s umbilical cord was unusually short, making delivery more difficult.

“Apparently her cord was so short so it was like playing a tug of war between the outside world and her placenta,” she explained.

Moments after finally giving birth, Mav said she experienced severe nausea and vomiting while doctors simultaneously treated her lacerations and heavy blood loss.

“When they placed her on top of my chest, I immediately felt an urge to throw up,” she wrote.

The frightening situation escalated as she began shivering and drifting in and out of consciousness while doctors worked urgently around her.

“I could hear my OB saying I’m losing a lot of blood,” she revealed.

Amid the terrifying ordeal, one image stayed in her mind — seeing her husband holding their newborn daughter nearby.

“While I was dipping in and out of consciousness, I saw Matt on the couch in his jeans and silly hair cover. Holding our daughter. He smiled at me,” she shared emotionally.

Mav then recalled silently praying for survival at that moment.

“I remember praying ‘God please don’t let me die. Not now that I just got my family.’”

Fortunately, after receiving blood transfusions, stitches, and further medical care, the journalist eventually stabilized and was finally able to embrace her daughter.

“God heard my prayer,” she wrote.

She ended her emotional story by describing baby Maya as the greatest blessing she and her husband have ever received.

“A 7.5lb chubby cheeked baby Maya,” she proudly shared.
