Kapamilya actress Lovi Poe opened up about why she rarely talks about her late father, legendary actor Fernando Poe Jr., in public, saying her decision is rooted in respect for her family’s privacy and dynamic.

During an interview with King of Talk Boy Abunda earlier this week, Lovi acknowledged the significant role FPJ played in her life while explaining why she has made it a habit to keep certain parts of their family story away from the public.
Lovi is FPJ’s daughter with model and actress Rowena Moran and is the half-sister of politician Grace Poe. She was raised by her mother and said that growing up, she always knew who her father was. However, his identity was never treated as something extraordinary inside their home.
“It was just something that was there, the norm in my head. It wasn’t a big deal sa home namin. My mom didn’t make it a big deal. I always knew since I was a kid and it was just in passing. I’ve always used my last name,” she maintained.

Rather than relying solely on personal memories, Lovi said she has also come to appreciate her father’s legacy through the stories shared by people who knew and worked with him.
“How kind he is sa mga tao and you know, it’s not just my mom. I think it’s everyone na nakakasama ko dito, whoever na nakakatrabaho ko. What an amazing feeling it is na when they come up to me and go ‘Your dad was so good to me,’” she said.
She particularly recalled stories from actress Sunshine Dizon, who had worked with FPJ and later showed kindness to Lovi when she was still a newcomer.
“Ate Sunshine [Dizon] told me great stories about my dad. And then you know what, the beauty of it is binalik niya sa akin yung kindness ng dad ko,” she shared.
Lovi said those experiences have allowed her to see how far her father’s influence reached within the entertainment industry.
“I believe it’s also because of the kindness that my dad showed her. It’s little things like that and I appreciate it kasi wherever I go, the legacy he left behind talaga. It’s remarkable–– you can’t really match it,” she maintained.
Still, Lovi admitted that discussing her relationship with FPJ publicly can be difficult. She explained that she has deliberately chosen to keep that part of her life private.
“I really don’t talk about this part of my life because it’s become a habit out of respect for the whole family dynamic. I’m just truly grateful where I am now and he’s such a big factor of my life,” she expressed.
