During the interview, Marjorie candidly shared how she managed to raise her children — Dani, Julia, Claudia, Leon, and Erich — largely on her own, while also reflecting on the emotional and physical challenges that came with it.
The conversation began when her daughter, Dani Barretto, asked her mother about the difficulties of parenting without a partner.
“Was it harder raising your children alone? What did that entire journey teach you?” Dani asked.

Marjorie admitted that despite the struggles, she was grateful she became the sole decision-maker in raising her children.
“Most of the time, let’s say 80 percent of the time, I’m glad I raised you guys alone kasi kung hindi naman, yung partner ko, ay magaling na partner in raising children or in the decision making, hindi balanced, that would be so hard,” she admitted.
She explained that parenting became easier for her because she did not have to constantly deal with conflicting parenting styles or disagreements when making important decisions for her children.
“I think it was easy deciding on my own, especially alam ko naman yung ibang-iba yung personality if you guys had your father. Hindi makakatulong sa decision-making,” she added.
Although she spoke confidently about the choices she made as a mother, Marjorie also acknowledged that there were moments when she became emotionally and physically drained, especially now that she is older.

“But, there are days na I get tired. There are days like now siguro because I’m older, I had all the energy then, so raising my kids alone when you were kids, I had all the energy,” she expressed.
The actress-politician then credited her children for helping one another while growing up. According to Marjorie, the older siblings naturally stepped into responsibilities that helped lighten the burden at home.
She also became emotional while talking about the bond her children still share today, even after moving into separate homes and building lives of their own.
“I’m glad na dala dala ninyo yung closeness niyo up to now. It’s not just about being close, it’s really being there for one another. I can’t say I’m a single mom because I have you guys to really count on,” she shared.
Marjorie’s heartfelt reflections quickly resonated with many viewers online, especially fellow parents who related to the sacrifices and quiet strength that often come with raising children alone.
