A father and son died after they were allegedly stabbed by their neighbor while sleeping inside their home in Barangay Inayagan, Naga, Cebu.

Based on a report by “Unang Balita,” the mother of the family was also wounded during the incident. She is currently recovering in the hospital.

According to police investigators, the suspect had earlier argued with the couple’s eldest son during a drinking session at a fiesta celebration. Authorities said the man later went to the family’s house to look for the person he had fought with.

However, the suspect allegedly failed to find the person he was looking for. Instead, he reportedly turned his anger toward the family members inside the house.

While the victims were asleep, the suspect allegedly entered the house and stabbed them. Due to the severity of their injuries, the father and son died.

The mother survived the attack despite sustaining stab wounds. She was immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment.

After the incident, the suspect fled the area but was later arrested by authorities.

In the report, the suspect said he wanted to apologize to the family for what he had done. Investigators have yet to disclose the defense he may raise in the case.

Police are continuing their investigation to determine other details surrounding the crime.

The incident became another tragic reminder of how conflicts can escalate into violence when anger is not controlled.

It's the same kidnap-slay crime committed against Ruby Rose Barrameda in 2007 and as it turned out, the alleged mastermind behind the two crimes was believed to be the same person.
