A couple was arrested after allegedly stealing two LPG tanks from a store in Barangay Alihi, Bacolod City, after reportedly pretending to be sightseeing to avoid suspicion during the incident.

In a report by “Balitanghali,” the man and woman initially appeared to be casually walking around the area. Moments later, the woman crossed the street while the man headed toward the LPG tanks displayed outside the establishment.

According to the report, the man allegedly forced open the padlock securing the LPG tanks displayed outside the store before quickly taking two tanks and attempting to leave the area with his companion.

Store employees immediately asked nearby residents for help, which led to the quick capture of the suspects. Authorities were also able to recover the stolen LPG tanks shortly after the incident.

Based on the police investigation, the couple allegedly admitted that they pretended to be sightseeing so they would not attract attention while carrying out the theft.

Residents in the area also played an important role in helping authorities respond quickly to the incident. Because of their assistance, the suspects were reportedly unable to escape far from the scene.

Despite the incident, the owner of the establishment decided not to file a complaint anymore after the LPG tanks were successfully recovered from the suspects.
