A woman died after she was allegedly stabbed by her own husband inside a school compound in Alabel, Sarangani, according to a report aired on Balitanghali by GMA Regional TV on Friday.

Authorities said the victim was working as a caretaker at the school. At the time of the incident, she was accompanied by her 15-year-old son when they went to the campus to retrieve laundry that had been left there.

The teenager later recounted that they were still inside the school premises when his father suddenly appeared carrying a knife.

According to the boy’s account, the suspect first punched his mother before the situation quickly escalated. Frightened by the sudden attack, the teenager ran away from the area to seek help from nearby people.

When the boy returned to the location after calling for assistance, he discovered that his father had already fled the scene.

He then found his mother lying lifeless.

Police investigators said the couple had reportedly been dealing with long-standing conflicts prior to the incident.

Authorities noted that the victim had previously filed a complaint with officials regarding alleged physical abuse from her husband.

The victim’s son also shared that jealousy was believed to be one of the main reasons behind the repeated violence directed at his mother.

Law enforcement officers have launched a manhunt operation to track down the suspect, who remains at large as of this writing.

Meanwhile, school officials said they were unaware that the suspect had managed to enter the campus prior to the attack.

The administration expressed concern over the incident and has since strengthened security measures within the school grounds to prevent similar situations from happening again.

In a related development, the Bacoor Component City Police have identified the man seen in a viral video attempting to open a vehicle as Joel Viola Matados.
